Arbor Week Poster Contest

Fifth graders from across Oklahoma participate annually in a poster contest celebrating trees. Top prizes are awarded at the state level including a special tree planting ceremony at the student's school during Oklahoma's Arbor Week, always the last FULL week in March. The first place winner is entered in the national competition for a $1000 prize and a trip to Nebraska City.

2009 Contest Curriculum Materials now Available
Entry materials are available each August and curriculum packets are mailed to every fifth grade class in the state. Other groups including home school associations, scout groups and civic groups are also eligible to participate. Oklahoma's deadline is the Friday before Thanksgiving.

Sponsoring organizations for the state contest include OK Forestry Services, OK Project Learning Tree and the OK Urban & Community Forestry Council. the national sponsors are the National Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota.
